The theme of the 2017 BC MBA Games was The Blue Marble.

The purpose of the theme was to inspire participants to make a lifelong commitment to ocean preservation. The sustainability theme towards waterways and oceans is consistent with Canada's Oceans Strategy, Canada's Ocean Protection Plan, and UN SDG #14. The theme encouraged MBA students to explore the possibilities within the business community to sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development.
